Happy snowy Wednesday, everyone!
After spending some days going through my past several blog posts, I came to realize that slowly but surely my blog has somehow turned into a food blog? So. I thought I should try to balance out the posts since I most definitely have many other passions besides food (I mean.. clearly my love for food overpowers all). I believe my hesitance on blogging about fashion and beauty came partially from being self conscious. I know, so dumb of me, but there's just so many beauty bloggers out there, and I didn't really feel like I would add anything interesting to the mass of blogs. However, I came to the thought, "Who the heck cares!" I love beauty, these products are pretty great and I just want to talk about them!
And so, here is a post that gets me so so excited! These items are my tried and true beauty and makeup items that I have come to absolutely LOVE over the years. You could say that these items are my "holy grail" items. Let's get started!
e.l.f. pore adjusting face primer
When I first bought this primer I really wasn't expecting much because the reviews online were pretty split. I thought, "Well, as long as it doesn't make me have even LARGER pores, then it's still a win!" So one morning I nonchalantly rubbed this onto my face, used my regular foundation and then finished up the rest of my make up like usual. And then I proceeded to look at myself in the mirror.. AND?!
I thought my eyes hadn't adjusted yet because I just woke up but that wasn't it, I actually saw that my face looked so much more smooth! And not only does it erase my pores, but every time I use this primer I realized that my makeup lasted hours longer! Nothing in the description says that it will make makeup last longer, but hey, I'll take it!
They don't have the same exact one anymore, but here's their latest version.
Lash&brow enhancing caster oil
So, a few months ago I tried to attempt to do my own permanent eyelash extensions to save a few bucks. So yes, long story short, I was left with toxic glue all in my eyes and I ended up tearing off and ruining almost half my eyelashes off. After 1-2 days of trying again, I realized that clearly this was not going to work out and I had to give my eyelashes a break.
After all the damage was done I went on Amazon and ended up finding this caster oil for my lashes and brows and okay let me just preface by saying I am a HUGE skeptic when it comes to these "miracle growth" or "miracle change" products. But After diligently putting on caster oil on my brows and eyelashes (almost) every night for the past 2 months, I can say that this.works. Not only have my eyelashes grown back fully, but they're even more full and long and my nonexistent eyebrows are suddenly looking more like caterpillars than little beans on my face. Be patient, remember to be consistent when you apply, and be amazed! Here's the link!
I've always been one of those girls that didn't believe that the price mattered when it came to things like eyelash curlers - you curl your eyelashes the same way, what's the big deal? Just add more pressure if it doesn't work? But this curler changed my life (clearly my life is eventful. I've always used the cheapest eyelash curlers I could find to find my eyelashes pin-straight again in just a few hours as if I didn't curl them at all. I thought this was normal with everyone, but when I came across this eyelash curler and the reviews (it's the #1 eyelash curler on Amazon, I mean come on), I thought I should give it a try, why not? My eyelashes were barely existent because I hacked them off my face so I was desperate.
And you know what I'm already going to say. It curls beautifully and keeps your eyelashes curled for the rest of the day. A.K.A. It does what it's supposed to do! Thanks to this eyelash curler and the caster oil, I've been enjoying fabulously long and fun lashes! Here's the link!
maybelline brow precise micro pencil
Once again, I'm no makeup guru, I just know what works for me and doesn't work for me. I've been looking for an eyebrow pencil that will be able to help me shape my eyebrows and not smudge off/melt off at the end of the day. And that's this one!
I've heard the word "dupe" around the internet quite a bit, and I would most definitely deem this brow pencil as a dupe for the Anastasia Brow Wiz! It's a creamy pencil that has a thin and precise point so you can literally draw each eyebrow hair if that's your thing, and the spool at the end is the perfect size and texture to blend and brush your eyebrows through.
The only downside is that the product unfortunately does not last very long, I think the longest I've used one was.. a month? So I keep a few of these in my makeup drawer as back-ups! I think this eyebrow pencil is definitely worth trying out so here is the link!
lorac pro palette
This palette is the very first eyeshadow palette that I ever splurged on and it is still my absolute favorite (which is hard for me to say because I have a weird obsession with collecting eyeshadow palettes..). I first heard of this palette from Claire Marshall, my absolute favorite personality from YouTube and she expressed that she loved the versatility of the palette because there's shades from a glittery light pink to sold dark black. After using it for almost a good three years, I most definitely agree that when it comes to how accurate the color is from the product to your eyelids and how you can create a variety of makeup looks with all the different color options!
I'm definitely no makeup guru, but as an every day makeup lover who (occasionally) tries to experiment with her makeup here and there, this palette is my absolute favorite and holy grail item!
maybelline fit me! matte&poreless foundation
I've always used Korean CC creams because I absolutely hate my makeup feeling heavy on my face and I've had trouble having U.S. brands match my skin tone - which is I think I'm sure a lot of Asians go through. But recently I've wanted to branch out to U.S. brands instead of Korean ones since I don't think I'll be visiting Korea as regularly as I did before.
From my "research" it seemed like while you can usually find "dupes" of high-end products, finding a dupe for foundation was not going to be easy. I've tried almost every Drugstore foundation out there and as of now, this Maybelline foundation is the closest I could get to the result I wanted! It covers your face evenly but feels light, it does not leave your face oily and gross, it does not smell gross, and it doesn't cost a lung - that's all I can ask for.
Along with the 1,394 people who have already tried this foundation, I've also been LOVING this foundation!
I know highlighting and glowing like the vampire I'm sure we all once loved to hate, is the latest trend in make up but just to be honest, this is a part of my make up "routine" that I regularly forget to include (intentionally or unintentionally). However on days when I'm wanting to feel a little more put together and "on", then I highlight the crap out of my face with this particular highlighter.
I think I love this one because it adds the extra shine and sparkle but its not overly shiny because I'm just a normal human trying to feel a little more fierce when I'm sitting in a basement office from 9 to 5 answering calls from senior citizens (Hey, we all deserve to feel fierce no matter where we are or what we're doing)! I think it is a great intro highlighter for people who have yet to try other luxury highlighters! I've had this one for years and barely made a dent in it so try it out!
And that's all my holy grail make up items! I'm sure I'll add and take away to this list in the future since I love trying out new make up. It's a peculiar thing that 95% of the time I wear the same makeup using the same makeup tools, yet my makeup collection seems to be always growing? Anyway, I hope I was able to help you with any of my recommendations, and it was actually super fun writing about something other than food (oh gosh). I think I'll do it more often! So if you have any suggestions for blog posts or videos, I'm completely open to new ideas!
As always, thank you so much for visiting and reading my blog.
